Oct. 20th, 2004 05:12 pmi don't think i've ever actually been excited for a baseball game before! i'm a childhood red sox fan and a girl of great sentiment, so around town i have to usually keep quiet about who i'm rooting for. last year, april and i went into this bar at the end of the last sox/yankees game and april (who's from boston) was shouting at the top of her lungs about how the yankees fucking suck. i thought we were going to get killed. lucky for us we're hot chicks (though i wasn't exactly at my hottest around that time last year).
i don't know if i should watch or not. i don't know if i'm good or bad luck. watching the bills, growing up, wherever we were in the house when the bills first scored, we all had to stay there for the rest of the game. so my dad would sometimes be watching in the attic, me in the living room, and my mom in the bedroom. and then every time the other team scored, we were free to move around again. i may play by the same rules tonight
poor segev -- if it goes to 14 innings again, there's no way he'll be able to make himself stay up that late. but this! this could be historic! this is a bigger deal than actually winning the world series. i have a feeling that if boston wins tonight, they'll totally go on to blow the world series because all they really cared about was beating the yankees and getting to the game in the first place. :) fuck you, babe ruth!

Jul. 7th, 2004 05:34 pmlast night i met brooks and his friend laurie at empire skating in crown heights for "hip hop rollerskating" that laurie had read about in the village voice. it's a pretty shady neighborhood, but the place itself is apparently where "roller disco" was "invented". and the music was very disco-y. and everyone was AMAZING! apparently there's a rollerskating scene. these people were dancing. on. skates. it was unbelievable. and then i realized i hadn't been on 4-wheelers since i was 12 years old. i felt very conspicuous. but fun was had. i got better as time went on.
i just finished watching season 6 of buffy, and although i have big problems with some of the plotlines, i found myself liking it a lot more than i remembered. the shoddy production values only bothered me in 2 episodes. i still hated the riley episode. the willow plotline was still horribly handled, but there were some good moments. dawn was annoying but in some ways sympathetic. and xander and anya were so much more fun than i remembered! emma caulfield is hysterical.

Jun. 28th, 2004 05:21 pmthe bush administration seems to have the same plan of attack with regards to iraqi sovereignty as i do with test-taking: even if you're still short about a hundred words on an essay question, you accept the fact that you have no more knowledge to put forward and you hand the exam in early. however, i still manage to get A minuses on said exams. i have little hope that scorekeepers will judge bush similarly. if bush were really honest with us, he'd admit that he should have just filled in all Cs in the multiple choice bubbles and would have probably averaged better than he ended up doing.
ah, iraq. you are sovereign now! except for the huge numbers of american troops still nosing into your business with guns and tanks, and the fact that none of you respect those governing you. now, someone just has to come up with a new national anthem for someone to sing before baseball games. what? you say there are no baseball games? oh well. probably better off -- did you ever see when roseanne sang the national anthem, anyway?
