“My trip to Asia begins here in Japan for an important reason. (Applause.) It begins here because for a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times.”

dude, did he not even take remedial u.s. history in junior high? how is this fucking possible?!?!? how is this man the leader of the free world?!?!? he knows NOTHING!

Hmm. Did we forget about that little incident with the Enola Gay? Or perhaps the one with U.S. prisoners of war, torture camps, and machetes?

God help us all. The "leader of the free world" is a Mo-Ron.

Actually, the leader of the free world is Dinkwad Cheney. I'm not sure which I prefer.

sigh.

it's a joke, leah. mellow. mellow. it's from www.whitehouse.org, a parody site that mocks a lot of stuff, including crazy christian right-wingers. you'd probably enjoy it a lot, actually.

i don't personally think jesus would vote republican. but THEY (big bad they) do.

Was he reading from a prepared speech, or was this him babbling off the cuff? And if it was a prepared speech, is it just that he's illiterate or did the speech writer fuck up?

Regardless of whether it was him or the speech writer, ain't no way that the president should have let something like that slip out of his lips. Sheeeeeesh. Maybe they just teach a slightly different world history in Texas schools than they do anywhere else.

[identity profile] notemily.livejournal.com 2002-05-09 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
Nah. They're too busy learning Texas history to bother with the rest of the world.

i'm pretty sure that the speech-writer probably wrote "last half-century." so not only does he have no concept of world history, he also cannot read.

they know better than to let him speak off the cuff, i'm sure, given how bad things turn out even when they pre-write things for him. sheesh!

Hey Mags,

I can assure you that Jesus would not vote Republican--he was a commie! I wish the Jesus freaks would figure that out and get out of the GOP--they give capitalism a bad name!
