Segev and I started watching The Wire last night, after a number of years of me telling Ryan to piss off every time he raved about it. I had rented the first disk when I worked at Kim's, watched the first scene, and thought it was totally overwrought and didn't bother to watch any further. But after hearing the reviews of season 4, I really, REALLY wanted to see it. So I figured I had to watch from the beginning to really get season 4. And Id o like it, quite a bit. I still think I'm going to be more interested in season 4, when they start dealing with the school system, rather than the first three seasons, which are pretty much concerned purely with cops (as I understand it). And the fifth season is going to deal a lot with the media, which is, of course, one of my main political interests. So I'm psyched for that. I've been spending a lot of time going, "Who is THAT actor? I know I've seen him before!" and then going to IMDB and finding out I'm wrong. It's a frustrating contrast to when we watched Hot Fuzz and I totally knew everyone in the cast. ("Dude, I knew I knew that mumbledy old man, that's FILCH!")

I love the Wire. it doesn't grab you right away but once you're about half a season in you realize it's the shit. I've only seen the first three seasons and my favorite was actually the second -- which surprised me because for most of the second season I was comparing it unfavorably to the first. also the theme song really grows on you. ah, great times.

i am a total wire addict. i started at the beginning and just finished season 4 and am totally salivating for the next one. season four is fantastic, but partly because of the rich backgrounds they've built up in the first three seasons.

also, me and omar are married. also, i'm married to this guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J.D._Williams), who plays bodie.

As of right now I'm married to Lester. He may be old, but he is BAD ASS. I'm having sex with McNulty on the side. I totally *heart* Omar, but I think we might be sexually incompatible. I thought Carver was cute, but he became very obviously a douchebag very early on. Still -- easy on the eyes. As is Daniels -- he's going to be on Lost! Yay! And was I the only one who thought that Wallace was like a ghetto version of Wiley Wiggins in Dazed and Confused? Probably.

We got the first disc of the second season today. I will continually update.
