we have a new new kitten! he is about 8 weeks old, semi-longhaired, mostly grey with some white tiger markings. he also has eyes the color of mercury that are really stunning. he's very compact, with a stuppy tail. when he runs he looks like a caterpillar. no name yet.

ironically, considering we got him to keep simi company, she is thoroughly unhappy about this new introduction. but i see hope for friendship. you can't expect them to get along in the first 10 minutes. i just hope she doesn't, you know, eat him or anything. she seems more scared of him than anything else.

Congratulations. :) I hope that blending the family works well. Have you had success merging kitties in the past? Any advice? (I'm considering it.)

well, we got simi when whistle was still alive, and whistle was NOT happy at first. a lot of hissing and growling, but no swatting or scratching. simi was just very persistent, though, and when i came back from a week's trip to LA they'd manage to make friends. simi certainly still liked whistle a whole lot more than whistle liked simi, but simi would sleep with her and whistle wouldn't complain. that's why i'm sorta disappointed in simi -- i'm like "remember when you were new here!" anyway, i guess my advice is, leave them alone to sort it out themselves and things should be ok.

yay! welcome aboard, new kitty! if he looks that much like a caterpillar, you could call him glow-worm... or maybe not. <laugh> i'm sure he and simi will learn to get along. :)

yay for new kitties! i'm sure simi will be ok eventually. at least you haven't had her for a long time. trust me, it's a lot harder to bring a new cat in when your first cat has been an only cat for four years ...
