OK, here's the musical mix-and-match news for the day, complete with fun yousendit links!

Death From Above 1979 is breaking up. Apparently one member is working with Josh Homme on a new Queens of the Stone Age album, which -- yay! I can only imagine how much cowbell will be on that record. The other member is part of a duo called MSTRKRFT, who have done remixes for Metric and the Kills (and, in fact, for DFA1979). I'm listening to their album now, and I don't love it. There are a couple of good songs, but they seem to be trying too hard to sound like Daft Punk. But as far as remixing, they're ace. I guess they need the stabilizing influence of the rock songs so they don't just descend into bleeps and bloops.

And, weirdly, Johnny Marr is joining Modest Mouse. I'm not linking to mp3s for that one, because I think most of you know what the Smiths sound like, and I don't love Modest Mouse, and I don't have that Johnny Marr and the Healers album on my computer anymore cuz it was weak.

Hmm. i've been seeing the MSTRKRFT CD at the station but I haven't listened to it yet. I'm planing (pondering, anyway) an RPM show tomorrow (RPM is the catchall radio biz term for techno, dance, and pretty much all alectronica), so that I can get the few new RPM releases we have on the playlist and charted, so the labels will start sending us more.

I beleive the stream will be working if you dial in to http://www.bates.edu/wrbc
