george michael got caught in flagrante delicto with some random guy in a bush the other day, apparently breaking up his coming nuptuals. but how could he resist, given the man's fashion sense:

sometimes the clothes do not make the maaaaaaaaan...

for some reason i have a DISTINCT memory of listening to this brenda k. starr song while reading that anastasia book where she takes classes at the modeling agency...

apparently the new yo la tengo album is called "i am not afraid of you and i will beat your ass". ira is tired of these muthafuckin' snakes on this muthafuckin' plane, y'all!

(i promise that is the first and last "snakes on a plane" joke i will post on this journal. unless you count posting the theme song a couple days ago. the song itself is kinda a joke, in that it sucks so bad it is laughable -- much like i suspect the movie itself will be.)

this makes me sick.

plus, there's this lovely tidbit:

To stem criticism that the measure protected fathers guilty of incest, Republicans joined Democrats in approving an amendment that says a parent who has committed incest and transports a minor out of state for an abortion will also face a fine and jail time.

so, okay, if the father rapes the girl and then tries to get her the abortion, then he goes to jail. shouldn't you just be putting the dad in jail because he raped his daughter in the first place? what the hell is the point of that amendment? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE 14 DEMOCRATS WHO VOTED FOR THIS BILL?

oh, and let's also gut sex education programs, because that's really a FAMILY matter. don't congresspeople realize that not every family is this leave-it-to-beaver picture of perfect happiness and tranquility that all these laws seem to presuppose? what sort of sex education are parents providing when they sodomize their kids? because THAT HAPPENS. you may not want to think about it, you might think it's distasteful, but it's true.

i've heard about this ringtone only kids can hear before, but this is the first site that's had a link to the actual sound.

well, i could hear it. maybe it would be more accurate that i could FEEL it -- i heard the tiniest whine and then my ears felt like they were going to bleed. but i guess that means i'm still young. i'll check back after my 26th birthday next month and see if that pushes me past my expiration date. good to know that despite years of concert-going and general loud music-listening (my parents can vouch for the volume of my stereo in high school), i'm not actually deaf yet.
