more jonathan strange

i'm about halfway through the book now. my sleepless nights have been letting me read it in big chunks. it gets bogged down in parts, and then they'll drop in this little intriguing piece of plot and i'm just hungry for more. i keep being tempted to skim, but i won't! i would go through the whole thing methodically and embrace the rhythm and all the nuance and every damn little bit of political and magical progression and then, eventually, we'll figure out what that creepy fairy is up to and what the fuck is going to happen with the raven king. it's good, but i really want them to get to the exciting stuff, cuz i know it's going to happen eventually, from the reviews i've read.
