An episode full of Desmond, Sayid, Corporal Pansy, Hanso mysteries and time-travelly goodness? Now THAT's more like it.

I still don't know what the crap is going on, but I am more convinced than ever that the eye in Jacob's cabin is Desmond in some crazy time loop. The emphasis on the doctor (if that was actually a doctor...where have I seen that actor before? (eta: ahhhh...creepy Wolfram & Hart doctor that jacked up Gunn's brain and got him to bring the Illyria box that killed Fred...MAYBE WOLFRAM & HART IS BEHIND THE DHARMA FOUNDATION! JOSSVERSE/LOSTVERSE CROSSOVER! HOLLA!) looking in his eyes to diagnose him sealed the deal for me. Don't know how, don't know why. But I am strangely sure -- Desmond has something to do with Jacob. I'm not saying he IS Jacob -- but he's in that cabin. I was apparently wrong about the boat being further in the future, though -- the 2004 calendar and Penny's expectant Christmas phone call would put the lie to my speculation that Frank and Jack were talking about different Red Sox wins.

I absolutely adore Jeremy Davies. I always have, but he's just killing in this part. It's the part he was born to play -- brilliant, twitchy, and completely endearing. Juliet's also strangely kickass this season; I like her a lot more than I did last year. Sorry to see Fisher Stevens go so quickly. Boy, he is an unsettling-looking man.

I'm not sure if Desmond finding his "constant" at the end just meant that he wasn't going to have an aneurysm and kick it like Jahrvi and the rat, or if he was totally re-moored and remembered the island. I was confused because he seemed to have a look of recognition when Penny mentioned Charlie, and of course he said Sayid's name -- but Sayid had been saying it throughout the episode, so I wasn't positive that it was supposed to acknowledge memory. But at least now we know why Faraday "didn't know" why he was so upset by the footage of the plane crash. Well, not exactly why -- but it obviously has to do with the same exposure to electromagnetism. Whether that's prolonged over time (the "what do you wear on your head" comment) or we'll see some other major event...not sure. Is he going to be less twitchy now that he's found his constant? Why hadn't he read that page in his book before -- or has he? Did he make a point of knowing Desmond's name two episodes ago? I should rewatch that one and this one together.

Where was Zoe Bell on the ship?? I was expecting some sort of Kiwi stuntwoman fantasticness! That's probably the only thing that would have made this episode any better. Well, that and some sort of Sawyer sexytime and the return of immortal pirate Batmanuel. I love this show.

I am expecting comments from AT LEAST Mike and Maggie and John and Mimi. Go.

Totally re-moored. Until his next time-traveling adventure.

It's the island + electromagnetism or radiation. I think the doc was exposed to radiation, and Desmond was obviously in the hatch with the electromagnetic assplosion.

Is he going to be less twitchy now that he's found his constant? Why hadn't he read that page in his book before -- or has he?

Last ep, they had him trying to remember 3 playing cards, and he couldn't even do that. I think the point is that his time experiments have frakked up his mind, and his journal is now his bible. Presumably he's not completely unhinged as yet (since it seemed like a pretty dramatic transition for Desmond), but probably will be when he tries to leave?

(Cue a later scene where someone wants to kill Desmond for his connection to Penny, and the doctor saves him because he needs him to stay alive.)

Something they touched upon but didn't follow up on was why Penny's dad always treats Desmond like crap. Penny's dad said it wasn't his objection (although, at this point in the timeline, he'd said Desmond wasn't worth a drink of his scotch, let alone his daughter, and that's what had caused Desmond to run off to the army), and told Des to ask Penny whose objection it was, which he didn't do.

I think we're going to find out that Penny is way more involved in things than we've previously seen.
