apparently triumph was sitting in the audience with moby and started riffing on the whole "eminem hates moby" thing ... name dropping him in that song or whatever. and mobyy plays along. so triumph tries to go up to eminem and joke with him, and eminem's boyguards threaten robert smigel, the guy who does triumph. and threatens moby. moby said in his webjournal that he thought it was all in fun until eminem started calling him a pussy and really threatening to beat him up. and then, eminem goes on stage to accept an award and people start booing him for being such an asshole with moby and triumph and eminem basically throws a fit. he calls moby a "little girl" (ooh!) and says "keep booing. i WILL hit a man with glasses." which is all such great, pathetic celebrity bullshit that i really wanted to see it. but mtv edited all of it out of the rerun. why? i'm assuming eminem's management pressured them into it, because he comes off so badly. why would they cave to that? because they're spineless corporate drones. but the way i see it, eminem owes more to mtv than they do to him, so the logistics of it confuse me.
i'm thinking about this too much. i have to go listen to mozart or something to clean out my pop-culture cache.
