Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming Less Than One Hour)
As Told By Ginger • Lunatic
Futurama • Roswell That Ends Well
King Of The Hill • Bobby Goes Nuts
The Simpsons • She Of Little Faith
South Park • Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants

imho, there were better episodes of the simpsons, and CERTAINLY better south parks this season. but, between the two (which the only real competition in my mind), i'll go with the simpsons.

Outstanding Music Direction
Buffy The Vampire Slayer • Once More With Feeling
Dinotopia • Part 1
The Kennedy Center Honors
Opening Ceremony Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games
Ultimate Manilow!

if ultimate manilow beats buffy, i will be shocked and chagrined.

Outstanding Music And Lyrics
The Carol Burnett Show “Show Stoppers” • Song Title: “A Mackie Rag”
The Fairly OddParents • Christmas Every Day - Song Title: “I Wish Every Day Could Be Christmas”
Family Guy • Brian Wallows And Peter Swallows - Song Title: “You’ve Got A Lot To See”
Judging Amy • Beating The Bounds - Song Title: “The Best Kind Of Answer”
The Simpsons • The Old Man And The Key - Song Title: “Ode To Branson”

i don't want to sound like an obsessed buffy fan, but there is no way that any of these songs are better than the ones in the buffy musical. i LOOOOVE the songs from the buffy musical. the simpsons-branson song was sub-par. and a song from judging amy? pah. bah!

The Shield, Michael Chiklis as Detective Vic Mackey
Six Feet Under, Michael C. Hall as David Fisher
Six Feet Under, Peter Krause as Nate Fisher
24, Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer
The West Wing, Martin Sheen as Josiah Bartlet

i REALLY want to see michael c. hall take this. i think he's an absolutely phenomenal actor. i think the non-six-feeters are all good, but i really think hall and krause put SO MUCH into their roles. they always impress me

Everybody Loves Raymond, Patricia Heaton as Debra
Friends, Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green
Malcolm In The Middle, Jane Kaczmarek as Lois

Everybody Loves Raymond, Brad Garrett as Robert
Frasier, David Hyde Pierce as Niles Crane
Malcolm In The Middle, Bryan Cranston as Hal

Six Feet Under, Freddy Rodriguez as Federico Diaz
The West Wing, Dulé Hill as Charlie Young
The West Wing, John Spencer as Leo McGarry
The West Wing, Bradley Whitford as Josh Lyman
The West Wing, Richard Schiff as Toby Ziegler

see, this is why there should be an ensemble award, because this is just ridiculous. i hope they all split the vote and victor garber takes it, because i love him. i LOVE him. i want to have his spy-daddy babies.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
Everybody Loves Raymond, Doris Roberts as Marie
Just Shoot Me, Wendie Malick as Nina Van Horn
Sex And The City, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes
Sex And The City, Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones
Will & Grace, Megan Mullally as Karen Walker

i think doris roberts is strident. i think just shoot me is terrible and wendy malick is no more than adequate in her role. i think kim cattrall has actively gotten worse as sex and the city has gone on, and now she's a ridiculous caricature. and, although i love megan mullally, cynthia nixon is by far the best thing about sex and the city, plus she lives in my neighborhood, so i'm rooting for her.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series
Judging Amy, Tyne Daly as Maxine Gray
Six Feet Under, Lauren Ambrose as Claire Fisher
The West Wing, Mary-Louise Parker as Amy Gardner
The West Wing, Stockard Channing as Abigail Bartlet
The West Wing, Janel Moloney as Donna Moss

Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series
Andy Richter Controls The Universe • Pilot
The Bernie Mac Show • Pilot
Everybody Loves Raymond • Marie’s Sculpture
Everybody Loves Raymond • The Angry Family
Sex And The City • My Motherboard, My Self

Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series
Alias • Truth Be Told (Pilot)
ER • On The Beach
The Shield • Pilot
24 • Midnight - 1:00 a.m. (Pilot)
The West Wing • Posse Comitatus

why are so many frickin' pilots nominated? i may be alone on this one, but i generally think most pilot scripts are kinda weak, because the actors haven't had a chance to inhabit the characters and really inform the writing yet. and i'm bothered that no six feet under scripts were nominated, because i think those are brilliantly scripted. especially compared to any episode of er this season. yes, even the mark-green-dies-on-the-beach-with-the-fat-hawaiian-guy-singing-judy-garland one. but of the ones i've seen of these, i'll say comedy should be sex and the city (because it's the only one i actually HAVE seen) and alias (the only one i've seen that isn't above-mentioned-er-script).
