...and also my computer's still not here.

I officially have no idea what's happening on Lost anymore, but I honestly kinda love it that way.
Any episode with Batmanuel AND Lt. Cedric Abbadon makes Maggie very happy. Although something about putting Lance Reddick in that orderly's jacket made him seem far too Scatman Crothers/wise old black man for me. That's mostly because I'm used to seeing him in much more authoritative clothes. Of course, I prefer when he's not wearing any clothes at all. I am sad that Google Image searches for "lance reddick naked", "lance reddick shirtless", "lance reddick torso", and "lance reddick muscles" all come up short, so take my word for it -- that man's body is SICK. Good holy god, it's mesmerizing. And I don't even LIKE muscle-y guys.
Jeff Jensen over at EW seems to have the most coherent take on the possible message we're supposed to take from the episode -- that Ben's been filling the position on the island that was always meant for Locke. Or something. But I don't know how that quite squares with this battle royale between Ben and Widmore. I'm also intrigued by Ben's insistence that he wasn't always the leader of the others. I mean, obviously by now we're all supposed to know that "Jacob" is who they take orders from, but I think he meant someone else, someone living among them. Was it Batmanuel? He seemed like he was a functionary even as far back as Locke's childhood, but he did show a certain amount of resentment towards Ben...Jensen also pointed out that Batmanuel was showing up dressed all "Mad Men" before he was scruffy pirate man on the island. What's that about? More time-craziness? Is Batmanuel a manifestation of the island, like Dead!Yemi and Kate's horse and any number of other things that Darlton have deemed as such? And are Christian Shephard and (possibly?) Dead!Claire also manifestations? And how do you move a whole island? Also...WHAT IS GOING ON?
Last question -- what is that crazy crap that Keamy strapped to his arm? And is the fact that Desmond has turned into a silent horrified observer on the freighter another indication that my crazy theory about him being the eye in the cabin is actually correct? I'm clinging to that one.
ETA: Oh, I forgot to say -- ain't no way a baby comes out after 6 months gestation crying. He would barely have functioning lungs! I don't care how much magic island fairy dust attached itself to him in utero -- I call shenanigans. SHENANIGANS!
ETA 2 Electric Boogaloo: Ooooh, oooh, and I've got to mention how two neato things noticed by two neato people sync together spectacularly well -- Jeff Jensen mentions the "Book of Laws" that Batmanuel seems to want Locke to pick up in his test and ties it to the Aleister Crowley book "The Book of the Law." And
sassette726 brought up Horus, the Egyptian sun god when discussing Locke's vision of Dead!Horace. So when I went to Wikipedia to find out more about the Crowley book, I found out that Crowley was apparently spurred to write it when a ritual he performed on his wife put her in a trance wherein she claimed that Horus was waiting for him to invoke him. I don't really know what any of that means, because my understanding of Aleister Crowley is limited to whatever
cag has mentioned on his journal about Satanism and the references in the first issue of Sandman. But seriously -- that's a pretty obvious connection, and I continue to be extraordinarily impressed with the cultural literacy of the Lost writers. So now we've got Mittelos Labs tied to Satanism, Dharma tied to the Sun God/Egyptian mythology via Horace visions, and Abaddon: the angel of death and/or the antichrist, working for Widmore. But...the protocol file Keamy took out of the safe had a Dharma logo on it, so since he's with Widmore, Dharma would appear to be affiliated with...oh, blah. I don't know. Seriously -- no idea.
